ALTOONA-MIDWAY MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL

OLPE – The Olpe Middle School volleyball squad defeated the Altoona-Midway Lady Jets in a pair of matches held here Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Jets’ “A” team dropped a 25-14, 25-8 decision to Olpe, and the host Lady Eagles also captured the “B” match by a score of 25-9, 25-19.

Altoona-Midway’s top unit dropped to 2-11 on the season, while the Lady Jets’ “B” team is now 4-4.

“Overall, it just wasn’t our night. The girls didn’t show up to play tonight,” said AMMS head coach Nikki Almond. “We had a girl out, and a couple of girls not feeling well, so we had some adjustments to make. But we never seemed to get in sync.

“Anna Beckwith and Abby Relph were really hustling tonight, and I do want to give them recognition for that,” Almond noted.

Highlights for the Lady Jets in the “A” matchup included a kill by Chloe Stewart and a nice dig by Autumn Raymond.

Presley Tarlton and Emmalynn Pupanek each had aces in the “B” contest, while Relph had a pair of digs and Olivia Goodwin added a kill.

The Lady Jets will attempt to rebound when they travel to St. Paul on Monday for a five-team tournament. First match is slated to get under way at 4:30 p.m.
