Youth for Music

Altoona-Midway music students participated in Youth for Music Honor Bands sponsored by Flint Hills Music in Emporia on Saturday, February 2.  This gave the students the opportunity to come together and work with new friends, all of whom share a particular goal – to make exceptional music.  Membership was based on individual achievements, teacher recommendations and instrumentation needs.  Hunter Sade, sophomore, had this to say, “YFM is a great experience.  I have gone for the past 2 years and I love it. “

Playing for the Junior Division Band were Jackson Ashmore on alto sax, Abi Elsesser on trumpet, Emma Martin on flute, and Dalton Smith on trumpet.  The band was directed by Erik Cooke-Stone, from Comanche MS/Dodge City HS.  The Senior Division Band was directed by ESU professor, Dr. William Woodworth.  Members included Dawson Ashmore on percussion, Erin Drybread on flute, Ian Faller on percussion, Clement Huffman on euphonium, Josie Huffman on trumpet, Joshua Meigs on percussion, Anna Pierce on clarinet, and Hunter Sade on trombone.
