ALTOONA-MIDWAY HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Altoona-Midway Lady Jets were able to squeeze a non-league contest against Chase County onto the schedule Saturday afternoon, but came up on the short end of a 52‑26 decision.

“Chase County was a tough team of 14 players, and one of the taller teams we’ve played,” Lady Jets head coach Randy Almond said. “But I’m very proud of the girls. Every game, everyone contributes in one way or another.

“Today against Chase County, all seven girls put points on the board.”

Mariah Stackhouse led the Lady Jets with 10 points. Summer Raymond, Kadence Lamendola and Natalie Davis each tallied four points, Emma Martin scored two, and Alyssa Relph and Kyra O’Connor each contributed a free throw.

Chase County led 12-3 at the quarter and 23-14 at the break. The Lady Bulldogs put the game away with a 17-2 run in the third period.

The AMHS girls fell to 0-11 on the year. The Lady Jets will begin Class 1A, Division II sub-state action on Thursday, Feb. 25, when they travel to Waverly. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
