Middle School Track @ YC

YATES CENTER – The weather was nice, the competition was fierce, and Cate Nembhard was the standout for the Altoona-Midway Middle School track team as they participated Thursday in the Yates Center Invitational.

“The team finally had some decent weather conditions. This was a great day to compete and have fun,” noted Lauren Lewallen, head track coach for AMMS. “Cate Nembhard, one again, placed in ALL of her events, and Tiffany Kuhn had a strong showing in the mile.”

Nembhard, who has had a strong spring for the Lady Jet thinclads, placed in four separate events at Yates Center. Nembhard claimed gold in the 400 meter dash, silver in the 200 meters, and picked up a pair of third-place finishes in the 100 meter dash and the long jump.

Kuhn helped AMMS with a strong third place finish in the mile run.

Lewallen noted that the squad has a very busy week ahead and invited fans to come out.

“The middle school track team has a lot of talented and hard-working kids who are showing results out on the track and in field events,” she said. “Come out and support our students next week: Monday in Cherryvale, Tuesday at Flint Hills, and Thursday at Oswego.”
