PARSONS – The Altoona-Midway Middle School Jets came up with only goose eggs as they fell 36-0 to the Meadow View Falcons in a Mineral Belt League matchup here Thursday.

It was the second time this season AMMS (1-7) has been held scoreless. After posting a 26-12 win over Chetopa to open the season, the Jets have managed just 39 points over their last seven contests, an average of just 5.6 points per game.

“I’m not disappointed in the boys…. I’m disappointed for the boys,” noted Altoona-Midway coach David Batzer. “They are so much better than what our fans get to see during the games. If we could only bottle up the confident team I see in practice, I am more than certain that the results would be different on game day.”

Meadow View jumped to a 17-0 lead after one period of play and increased the margin to 26-0 at halftime. It was 32-0 entering the final period when the Falcons tacked on the final four points.

“It’s as if we are overwhelmed by the moment. The first quarter of the game was like shock and awe,” Batzer said. “Meadow View took control of the game, and we didn’t have an answer for anything they threw at us.

“Fortunately, we have a couple of days of practice before we travel to Mound Valley on Thursday,” Batzer added. “All we can do is keep focusing on the basics, adding pressure, and working on improving each and every day.”

Thaddeus Tindle brought down 6 rebounds to lead the Jets in that department.

Hurley led Meadow View with 16 points while Vollmer chipped in nine for the Falcons.
