BUFFALO – The boys’ and girls’ basketball teams at Altoona-Midway High School placed one player each on the elite All-Three Rivers League squad for the 2025-26 season.
AMHS senior Kage Beck and Lady Jet junior Jasa Pankaskie were each tabbed for honorable mention honors when this year’s All-TRL choices were announced last week.
“Kage has been a great young man to coach and be associated with for all four years with the program,” said Altoona-Midway head coach Dave Vance. “He has grown in his ball-playing ability as well as being a very excellent student and just a great human being.”
Lady Jets head coach Jessica Porter had similar sentiments for her junior sharpshooter.
“Jasa has been a member of the varsity team for three years now, and she has shown great improvement each year,” Porter said. “In fact, I thought Jasa showed tremendous improvement even within this season as it progressed. She actually didn’t start the season as a starter, but she moved up to the starting position about midway through the season and ended up definitely being one of our biggest scoring threats.”
Beck, a member of the AMHS Jet varsity since his freshman season, improved each year during his four-year career. Beck saw limited varsity action as a freshman, was a key reserve on the record-setting 2023-24 squad, and was a starter and primary performer each of the last two seasons.
Beck averaged 11.1 points per game this past season and hauled down 5.7 rebounds while averaging 2.5 assists and 3.1 steals per game.
As a junior, Beck averaged 7.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest.
“Kage’s rebounding average went down a little this year due to having additional ball-handling responsibilities,” Vance noted.
For his entire prep career, Beck played in 82 games as a Jet. He scored 502 points, collected 350 rebounds, handed out 95 assists and snared 131 steals.
“I am very proud of Kage and he is definitely worthy or this distinction,” Vance noted. “He has a bright future in whatever he chooses to do.”
Pankaskie earned her third varsity letter as a member of the Lady Jets this season, and was the team’s primary outside scoring threat, canning a number of baskets from behind the arc.
The junior crack shot averaged 7.6 points per game on the year, but that figure included career-high performances when she scorched the nets for 19 points in one contest and 17 in another.
“It took a while for Jasa to feel comfortable looking to score,” Porter said. She has a very unassuming personality. But I’m glad that she got more confidence in her shooting ability as the season went along. She had some really good games.
“I am very proud of Jasa for earning all-league honors,” said Porter. “It is very much deserved – and we’ll be looking for even bigger things next year.”
