Those include strict adherence to universal masking, extended practice moratorium (Dec 3- Jan 3), extended competition moratorium (Dec 23-Jan 7), and restrictions on Invitational Tournaments. 2. KSHSAA 2020 Spirit of Sport and Heart of the Arts Awards Just a reminder, it is not too late to submit nominations for the 2020 KSHSAA Spirit of Sport and Heart of the Arts Awards. Nominations are due by January 8, 2021. Nominations must be submitted online by an administrator. The nomination form is posted on the KSHSAA Website and may only be accessed through the school’s password and ID login. Senior high School principals, athletic directors, and activity directors should login and go to the “Entry Forms” section and select “Special Forms”. Click on the “Spirit of Sport Nomination Form” and/or the “Heart of the Arts Nomination Form.” Check out all the past KSHSAA SOS and HOTA award recipients online at the KSHSAA Gallery of Champions under the “Awards” tab.   Basketball For questions in this section, please contact sport administrator Francine Martin (fmartin@kshsaa.org).   1. Team benches must be on the same side of the gym as the score table. The NFHS nor the KSHSAA have not made an exception to allow the team bench to be opposite the scorer. Schools should limit players, managers, assistant coaches, trainers on the bench in order to provide social distancing. No benches or chairs can be set up on the end lines. 2. GAMES PLAYED AT NEUTRAL SITES - If your team is going to play a game at a neutral site (not a member school site) that game must be approved by the KSHSAA Executive Board prior to participation. KSHSAA Handbook Rule 33-1-2 states “No game shall be played upon a neutral court without the approval of the Executive Board.” Requests to play games at a neutral site must be sent to Francine Martin at least two weeks prior to the event. Include the date, the location of the game, and the team(s) playing. 3. The sub-state sites and groupings will not be released until the Executive Board has approved a format for postseason. We are waiting as long as possible to see what possibilities may be based on the current COVID pandemic. The earliest anything will be posted is January. 4.
