2019-2020 GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENT
The 2019-2020 Altoona-Midway High School Graduation will take place on July 18, 2020, at
3:00pm. The ceremony will be held in the Milo E. Peterson Gymnasium. ALL family and friends
are welcome to attend. HOWEVER, everyone in attendance will be required to wear a mask.
This is not an option. Anyone refusing to wear a mask will not be allowed in the building. This
precaution is for the well-being of our students and all others in attendance.
We appreciate your cooperation. Please join us as we celebrate the class of 2020.

Summer Weights begin tomorrow! Coach Huffman will be in the weight room from 7:00 AM-8:30 AM. This is open to 7-12 boys and girls. Summer Academy begins at 8:00 AM and sports camps begin at 8:30. Please see fb or live feed for those details.
Prom and Graduation Announcement: After discussions with and recommendations from the Wilson County Health Department, prom will be canceled for July 11. This was not an easy decision but one that must be made. As of this notice, graduation will proceed as planned on July 18. More details will be released as the information becomes available. Please continue to monitor our social medial outlets, as that is where the most up-to-date information will be.
Sports Camp Announcement- After discussions with and recommendations from the Wilson County Health Department, sports camps will go on as planned starting July 6. Sports camps participants will not be required to wear masks. Social distancing will be practiced with very little contact. We will have individual water bottles for each camper and they will be sanitized daily at the school. Coaches will discuss further precautions at the beginning of camp. Please continue to monitor our social medial outlets, as that is where the most up-to-date information will be.
Summer Academy Announcement- After discussions with and recommendations from the Wilson county Health Department, Summer Academy will go on as planned starting July 6. Masks will be provided. For 1st grade and up. Busses will be disinfected daily. No masks will be required if the bus windows are down so transportation will be provided as scheduled. We will have individual water bottles for each student and they will be sanitized daily at the school. Friday field trips have been canceled but the Summer Academy will be continuing on Fridays. There will be more information coming out to our social media outlets July 3. Thanks for your patience and understanding as we keep the safety of our kids first and foremost in our minds. Please continue to monitor our social medial outlets, as that is where the most up-to-date information will be.
Update on ALL summer activities: In talking with county health officials, Governor Kelly will be issuing an executive order tomorrow on mask protocol. Wilson County Health Department will follow up with the district tomorrow. We will get the word out ASAP via our media outlets.
Important announcement concerning summer activities: We are waiting to hear from Destiny Wheeler from The Wilson County Health Department to call back with the protocols for our Summer activities. These activities include Summer Academy, sports camps, prom and graduation. I know we are all hoping to offer our kids these opportunities, but we have to follow whatever guidelines the county has in place. Hopefully, we will know something for sure tomorrow. Reminder: Drivers education begins next Monday. Bus pickup at the HS at 7:30 AM. Bus pickup at AMES at 7:45.
Emails for the P-EBT benefit were sent to emails on file of all USD387 families who were qualified for Free or Reduced meals via an application during the 2019-2020 school year. If you did not receive an email, and did receive free or reduced meals please email dcook@usd387.org.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Sign-up and payment for Driver's Ed has been changed to June 2 by 3:00 PM. Please call the high school with questions. 620-537-7711.
Reminder: USD 387 Summer Meals program will begin again on Monday, June 1st.

Milburn G. Apt from Buffalo Kansas, was a captain in the US Air Force. He was killed after separating from the Bell X-2 in his escape capsule during the record-setting flight that exceeded Mach 3
